BITTER / BIT

‘BITTER’ is a new club and restaurant located in a repurposed building that used to be a brothel in Rotterdam's M4H area. The identities of the venues are based on the idea that the restaurant BITTER nightclub BIT would merge under the same roof. The branding uses two typefaces as one as a metaphor for the two concepts, creating one environment. The underlying concept is that a visitor can spend 24 hours at bit, including diner and dancing. Black and white are used as base colors to reflect day and night in the identity. The elegant and simple design has a clarity and rigorousness that can adapt to the future needs and functions of the venue. With the font blending the restaurant and club together, along with the blurry pictures, the identity imparts a dynamic within the modular orientation of the venue.
